Does compression change GIF quality?
It can. Our presets reduce colors and may apply lossy compression. Smaller dimensions and fewer frames change the result too. Check both previews before downloading.
Why might a GIF not get smaller?
An already optimized GIF may have little room for improvement. New encoding can also add overhead. We show the actual size and offer the original when the output is larger.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your GIF is processed in your browser. The website downloads its processing code, but does not upload your file. See our Privacy Policy for hosting details.
Why does a large GIF fail on my phone?
Decoded animations can use much more memory than their file size suggests. Close other tabs, use a smaller source file or try a desktop browser. Device limits vary.
